If the New Testament is our only lens, how does it help with those passages? Ordinary Christians who want to read and understand Scripture for themselves receive little or no help. Your study points to the need to equip people to just read each text for what it says, not to look somewhere else for understanding of that text. The authors human and divine , wrote with an intention in each text and wrote in a way that ordinary people, guided by the Spirit, could understand that intention. If Christians are trained to examine the text well and think about the implications of the words, they will understand.
